I'm leaving Storyful and I have no idea what's next (and that's exciting)
After an amazing 14 months, I’ve decided to leave Storyful.
We launched the Australia business in April 2015 with one man and no plan. We now have 10 staff and have had more success than we could have imagined.
I’m proud of what we’ve achieved and the talented team we’ve put in place — but it’s time for me to seek the next adventure.
Owe a debt of thanks to Storyful’s CEO Rahul Chopra, former Managing Editor Aine Kerr and the past and present executive for their unswerving support on this amazing ride.
Also like to thank former News Corp Australia CEO Peter Tonagh, Executive Chairman Michael Miller, Director of Corporate Affairs and Content Innovation Campbell Reid, Chief Commercial Officer Sharb Farjami, Chief Technology Officer Alisa Bowen and Chief Digital Officer Mark Drasutis for their inspiration, encouragement and consistent WiFi.
Would also like to thank our clients in the region — ABC, VICE, news.com.au, The Daily Telegraph, Mashable and others I cannot mention, for their partnership and friendship.
And, of course, the founding fathers of Storyful — Mark Little and David Clinch — for taking an email from Sydney seriously and for a phone call at the end of my first week that I will never forget.
Have no role in the wings but I do have a little project to keep me interested — Edwina and I recently purchased an unrenovated 1890s sandstone farmhouse on 100 hectares in the Capertee Valley near Lithgow. The builders start in the next few weeks.
We renamed the property Warramba — “turtle” in Wiradjuri, the local Aboriginal language. We hope that Warramba will be the perfect place for us to slow down after a long working week — and maybe others will be able to enjoy it in the future.
